Bayou City Art Festivals are among the top 5 art festivals in
the nation by American Style Magazine and Top 3 by Sunshine
Artist Magazine. Located in the 4th largest city in the US,
festivals have consistently been ranked in ArtFair SourceBook
and Sunshine Artist Magazine's 200 Best. Downtown Houston
streets become an outdoor gallery featuring 300 juried fine
artists against the dramatic backdrop of Houston's skyscrapers.
This festival is a demonstrated long-time favorite of interior

Exhibition: Introspections, A Juried Self-Portrait Exhibition
Exhibition Dates: August 16 – September 22, 2008
The Smithtown Township Arts Council is now accepting
entries for Introspections, A Juried Self-Portrait Exhibition to be held
August 16 – September 22, 2008. Juror Amy Mackie is an assistant curator
at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York. Artists are invited to
submit work exploring various modes of representing the self. All media
(drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, video, film, sound,
performance, and installation) will be considered. Entry deadline is
July 1 2008, and must be submitted as 300 ppi jpeg files on CD only. For

Exhibition: Halloween Midnight Oils
Exhibition Dates: October 4 - November 7th, 2008
The Smithtown Township Arts Council is seeking works ranging from
the macabre to whimsical for Halloween Midnight Oils, to be held October
4 – November 7th, 2008. Open to all media. The exhibition is in
celebration of art’s awesome power as a spiritual instrument that helps
man to transcend his primeval fear of death and of the unknown. Juror
Alain Khadem is not interested in the gratuitously gory, but in works
that portray frightening subject matters in a philosophic, romantic, or
humorous light. Early entry is encouraged. Entry deadline is August 15,
2008, and must be submitted as 300 ppi jpeg files on CD only. For
